Heavy Equipment Operator

We are thrilled to partner with a well-established metal recycling company in Madison to find a dependable Heavy Equipment Operator. If you love working outdoors, operating large machinery, and being part of a team that directly impacts environmental sustainability, you will thrive here. In this role, you will play a major part in managing inventory, processing incoming shipments, and keeping our yard organized and moving.

• $20 to $24 per hour depending on experience
• Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM with occasional Saturdays

• Safely operate a heavy loader to load and unload trucks, semi-trailers, and rail cars
• Sort, organize, and relocate scrap metal materials efficiently throughout the yard
• Inspect inbound and outbound loads to ensure safety compliance and quality standards
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment, including greasing and checking oil levels
• Assist with minor crane maintenance and general labor tasks as needed to support the yard team
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by wearing required PPE and following site protocols
• Work comfortably in an outdoor yard environment subject to changing weather conditions

• Prior experience operating heavy machinery or driving a semi-tractor/trailer is preferred, but training is available for motivated candidates
• Basic mechanical knowledge for machine maintenance and troubleshooting is a plus
• Ability to handle the physical demands of the role, including lifting 30 to 50 pounds independently
• Strong focus on workplace safety and a dependable work ethic
• High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required
• Flexibility to work the required daily schedule and occasional Saturdays
