Production Planner and Control

Johnson Service Group, a nationally award-winning staffing firm, has an immediate opportunity for a Production Planner and Control with a Laser Technology firm in Madison, WI. Direct Hire | Onsite | $90 - $104K depending on experience

We are seeking an experienced Production Planner and Control professional to support production scheduling and materials coordination within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining efficient production flow, balancing capacity and material availability, and ensuring on-time customer delivery. The Production Planner will develop, own, and manage the Master Production Schedule based on production capacity, material readiness, labor availability, and customer requirements.

• Manage the end-to-end production plan, ensuring alignment with MRP requirements, capacity constraints, and customer delivery commitments
• Create and maintain the Master Production Schedule Plan and release work orders based on sales orders and forecasts
• Monitor work in process throughout the manufacturing operation
• Lead production review meetings and drive discussions regarding build-plan status, constraints, and recovery plans
• Partner with Production, Supply Chain, Sales, Warehouse, Engineering, and Finance to maintain the Internal Operating Plan
• Monitor shipment performance and elevate issues that could affect customer commitments
• Prepare scheduling reports, dashboards, KPIs, and status updates for operations leadership
• Track actual shipments against forecasts and identify performance gaps
• Work closely with Manufacturing to develop a stable production schedule that accounts for capacity, yield rates, Kanban flow, and nonconformance disposition
• Adjust daily delivery schedules when production issues affect internal requirements or contractual obligations
• Identify and lead process, system, and data-quality improvements that increase planning accuracy and efficiency

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum of five years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment
• Extensive experience creating and managing production schedules
• Strong understanding of MRP systems, materials planning, and manufacturing operations
• Experience balancing production capacity, material availability, labor requirements, and customer demand
• Strong background in project material management
• Understanding of business processes and cross-functional relationships
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables
• Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Share Point
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments
• Ability to manage changing priorities and address production constraints in a fast-paced environment
