This role is based in Madison, Wisconsin and is an on-site position. Working alongside experienced engineers and global partners, you will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations, scaling new technologies, and delivering projects that contribute to business growth.

Where

You'll Make a Difference

Support and improve manufacturing operations by proactively identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving process, safety, and efficiency issues. Participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including hazard analyses and continuous improvement initiatives. Monitor manufacturing process performance and analyze trends to optimize reliability, quality, and productivity. Design, execute, and evaluate experiments that improve process performance and operational effectiveness. Support the introduction and industrialization of new products and technologies within the manufacturing facility.

Contribute to capital investment projects as a member of the Manufacturing Technology team. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including batch records, standard operating procedures, training materials, and process instructions. Evaluate process costs, material utilization, and operational efficiency to identify improvement opportunities and support business decisions. Collaborate with teams across multiple IFF locations, including sites in Rochester and Europe, to transfer technologies and share best practices.

What

Makes You the Right Fit
  • Bachelor’s degree in Bioprocess Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Internship or co-op experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably in food, biotechnology, fermentation, or related industries.
  • Understanding of fermentation processes and downstream processing technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical and operational data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and process accuracy.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ownership in driving projects and process improvements.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, quality, safety, or continuous improvement principles.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as required.
How Would You Stand Out?
  • Experience supporting scale-up, technology transfer, or product industrialization activities.
  • Familiarity with food safety, dietary supplement, quality, or regulatory standards such as ISO 22000, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), or Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional project teams and influence stakeholders across multiple sites.
