Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Arrupe Center for Community Service and Social Responsibility, the Coordinator of Student Basic Needs and Community Outreach manages student basic needs initiatives, including coordination and implementation of the day-to-day operations of Iggy’s Market, the university’s basic needs hub. The position develops and implements programs, outreach strategies, and partnerships that support student well-being, belonging, and success while advancing the university’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.
Working collaboratively with students, campus partners, and community organizations, the coordinator enhances access to essential resources and meaningful opportunities for service and engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities
Program Coordination & Operations: Support daily operations and assessment of Iggy’s Market, Marquette’s basic needs hub, and related initiatives. Supports events and programming, such as food drives, donations, food recovery efforts, and student access. Develops and implements initiatives that address food insecurity and support student persistence, retention, and success. Serve as a primary resource for students experiencing food insecurity and other basic needs challenges, ensuring confidentiality and student-centered care.
Community Outreach, Partnerships & Resource Development: Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, food banks, local businesses, alumni, and campus departments to support students’ basic needs and community engagement. Coordinate food recovery initiatives, monthly donation drives, and resource collection efforts (including Move Out for Hunger) that expand support for students experiencing basic needs insecurity. Develop and implement outreach strategies, educational programs, workshops, presentations, and awareness campaigns that promote available resources, reduce stigma, and increase student utilization of services.
