About Working Families Party

Working Families Party (WFP) is a progressive party that supports the working class by recruiting, training, and backing transformational candidates across the political spectrum.

Overview

The Western Wisconsin Regional Organizer will build the grassroots base and organizing operation in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin. They will work with organizations and individuals to develop leaders and volunteers for electoral tactics such as canvassing, phone calling, texting, and relational postcard programs. The role includes candidate recruitment, endorsement processes, training, candidate development, and get‑out‑the‑vote efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Run a relational “Know Your Neighbor” voter contact program to recruit 100 volunteers and partner with other organizations to scale the program.
  • Train volunteers and build grassroots leadership.
  • Build a recruitment pipeline by embedding deeply in the community around our issues and candidates, building relationships with small business owners, faith leaders, artists, PTA parents, and others.
  • Organize and recruit volunteers to participate directly in candidate campaigns or run by PACs, C4s, or C3s.
  • Design and manage member development and political education opportunities.
  • Build and maintain cross‑organization political relationships with members and leaders.
  • Develop durable relationships with key leaders of allied organizations to ensure alignment around campaign goals and tactics.
  • Work with partners to manage joint volunteer activities and actions.
  • Maintain contact lists and keep records updated in the database.
  • Lead get‑out‑the‑vote field efforts for priority races, launching canvasses, building election‑day poll‑site visibility, and other field needs.
  • Support and build relational voter work, including our relational postcard program.
  • Manage and monitor strategy, priorities, timelines, communications, community outreach, politics, and organizing strategies.
  • Organize and recruit volunteers for text banking and phone banking.
  • Help coordinate volunteers to assist with campaign‑related tasks.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of organizing experience.
  • At least 3 campaign cycles as a candidate.
  • A passion for grassroots and grasstops organizing.
  • A commitment to social, economic, and racial justice.
  • Proven ability to create and manage organizing campaigns.
  • Strong communication skills to inspire others about WFP’s work.
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Drive and tenacity to advance the organization’s mission and values.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail and experience managing logistical, paperwork, and deadline‑driven projects.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with strong personalities, peers, public officials, and allies.
  • Proficiency with email, text, and phone banking tools.
  • Driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel in‑state regularly.
  • Familiarity with southeastern Wisconsin politics is preferred.
  • Must be based in the Western Wisconsin region (La Crosse or Eau Claire) covering Pierce, Pepin, Dunn, Eau Claire, Buffalo, Trempealeau, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Juneau, Vernon, Richland, Sauk, Crawford, Iowa, Green, Grant, and Lafayette counties.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States. No visa sponsorship or taking over sponsorship of employment visas is available at this time.

Contract

This is a temporary position. The contract will end on November 15, 2026. Successful employees may ultimately be offered a permanent position at Working Families Party.

Union

WFP is a unionized workplace. This short‑term temporary role is not eligible for inclusion in WFP’s staff bargaining unit. Union employees are represented by Workers United affiliated with SEIU Local 1115.
