Schedule: 20 hours per week with the expectation of working four days per week, Days and times are flexible, Monday through Friday, within core hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

The ASA, CSSA, and SSSA Science Policy Office represents the needs and priorities of Society members to policymakers in Washington, D.C.

• Current University of Wisconsin student with confirmed Federal Work Study eligibility.
• Academic background and demonstrated interest in agronomy, crop science, soil science, environmental studies, or closely related fields with an emphasis in agriculture

• Background or coursework in public policy, political science, agriculture, communications, or related fields.
• Experience with member services, communications, or customer support.
• Familiarity with advocacy, grassroots campaigns, or legislative outreach,
• Experience working in an association, nonprofit, or professional society environment.

• Possess an interest in science policy, advocacy, agriculture, or public policy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills,
• Ability to learn and explain a new online system.
• Good customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organization,
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Comfort working with members, staff, and possibly external audiences,
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

The Science Policy Intern supports the Science Policy team in member advocacy and congressional outreach activities for the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA). This role will help administer a member advocacy platform, respond to user questions, and assist with campaign setup and coordination, The intern will work closely with Science Policy staff and other team members to support 4-6 advocacy campaigns per year.

• Support day-to-day administration of the advocacy platform used by members and certified professionals,
• Assist with setting up and launching advocacy campaigns to help members contact their congressional representatives.
• Respond to basic user questions about how to use the system,
• Route subject-matter questions to Science Policy staff.
• Help maintain campaign materials, instructions, and web content related to advocacy actions,
• Track campaign activity and assist with report
