Overview
UW Health is seeking a Physician Assistant Outpatient General Surgery for a job in Madison, Wisconsin. The role supports ambulatory care in General Surgery as an Advanced Practice Provider.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care to emergency general surgery patients in an outpatient setting.
- Perform history and physical examinations, post-operative visits, wound management, and develop, manage and modify treatment plans for patients undergoing or having undergone emergency general surgery.
- Perform procedures such as suture and drain removal, seroma aspiration, sharp debridement, and wound care.
- Education:
- If Nurse Practitioner:
Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from an accredited Nursing Program. - If Physician Assistant:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited PA Program.
- If Nurse Practitioner:
- Licenses and
Certifications:- Minimum – State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure.
- For Nurse Practitioner:
Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses with prescriptive authority; active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice (e.g., Adult, Adult/Gerontology Primary Care, Emergency, Family). - For Physician Assistant:
Active PA license with prescriptive authority and active PA board certification. - Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire; active license or eligibility to obtain active licensure in state of practice (including Wisconsin).
40 hours per week, 8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. 100% FTE, outpatient setting.
