Travel Cardiovascular ICU Registered Nurse

Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN CVICU for a position in Madison, Wisconsin.

The organization is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse with expertise in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) in Madison, Wisconsin. The candidate will provide specialized care for patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and medical management of various cardiac conditions. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.

• Shift: 12‑hour rotating shifts, with scheduled hours from 0700‑1930 and 1900‑0730, with every other weekend, some holidays, and no call required.
• Duration: Start date: 07/06/2026; minimum hours per week: 36.0
• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); WI or compact Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Experience: Two years of recent acute care experience within the last three years in the CVICU or equivalent specialty is required. Experience in cardiothoracic surgery or acuity‑adaptable areas is preferred. Candidates must have Basic Arrhythmia experience and pass telemetry testing prior to start.
• Qualifications and Skills: Proficiency in managing Ports, Arterial lines, Chest tubes, Blood products, Ventilators, Cardiovascular monitoring devices, and advanced cardiac procedures such as CABG, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD, and IABP. Additional skills include interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias, infection prevention, and management of multisystem organ failure.

• Additional Requirements: Previous charge nurse experience, 2‑3 patient ratios, and some holiday coverage.
• Patient Care: Caring for adult and geriatric populations with complex cardiac post‑surgical and medical conditions, including post‑craniotomy, post‑neurosurgery, and cardiac interventions.
• Additional Notes: Candidates must have strong telemetry skills and demonstrate proficiency in cardiac interpretation exams (adult and pediatric). Passing telemetry exams with strict criteria is required prior to start, with up to two attempts allowed.
