Job Overview
The Nurse Manager in Behavioral Health Services has 24/7 accountability for the clinical and administrative operation of the locked psychiatric inpatient unit and behavioral health services in the emergency department located at Meriter Hospital.
Clinical accountability includes the care delivered by nursing and program staff, in conjunction with and under the direction of the psychiatrists and other providers assigned to the unit. Operational accountability includes staffing, procedural, and financial management of all components of unit operations.

ResponsibilitiesThe Nurse Manager is responsible for directing nursing and program staff, managing staffing and scheduling, ensuring compliance with all clinical protocols, overseeing financial performance of unit operations, and collaborating with psychiatrists and other interdisciplinary team members to deliver optimal patient care.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Three to five years within a psychiatric mental health setting
- Valid driver's license
- Current Wisconsin licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Efficient time management and ability to prioritize job duties
- Ability to effectively manage priorities and deadlines
- Effective planning and organization skills
- Critical and effective problem-solving skills
- Experience in leading group projects
- Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position
- Master of Science Degree in Nursing, DNP, Business Administration or related degree
- Experience focused on age range commensurate with unit identified to manage
- Management experience
- American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification on child/adolescent psychiatric‑mental health nursing
- Experience in leading QI projects
- Understanding of Policy development
