It offers specialized programs for patients who have experienced strokes, brain injuries, spinal-cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopedic injuries. The goal is to assist patients in achieving their highest level of recovery and returning home as soon as possible.

The facility aims to maximize health, function, and quality of life through comprehensive physical medicine and rehabilitation programs. The facility is accredited for its inpatient rehabilitation program and specialty programs. The unit has high acuity at times and operates similarly to a medical-surgical unit. All nursing staff are expected to assist with call lights and support certified nursing assistants for patient safety.

Attendance policies are strictly adhered to. Mandatory 30-minute breaks are provided, and staff must clock out during this time. Two 15-minute paid breaks are available during a 12-hour shift. Staff are not permitted to stay beyond their scheduled shift unless approved. The patient population consists of adults requiring inpatient rehabilitation services with high acuity needs. Patient ratios are maintained at 1:7.

Equipment used includes mobility equipment, vital machines, EKG machines, blood glucose monitors, and computers for charting. Electronic health records are maintained using Epic. The role involves contributing to the care of adults with substantial rehabilitation needs.
