Registered Nurse (RN) Special Procedures – Pediatric Procedures and Ambulatory Infusions

American Family Children’s Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin. Ongoing full‑time position.

Monday through Friday, day shift hours. Flexibility for off‑hours or weekends may be required. Hours may vary based on operational needs.

• Serve as a clinical expert within the Diagnostic & Therapy Center (DTC) supporting specialized pediatric areas including infusion therapy, procedural sedation, and pre/post procedural care.
• Advance nursing practice and improve patient outcomes through evidence‑based practice, quality improvement initiatives, staff mentorship, and implementation of innovative care delivery models.
• Support nurses caring for pediatric patients receiving chemotherapy, research infusions, injections, procedural sedation, MRI/anesthesia recovery, cardiac cath recovery, and outpatient specialty procedures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary leaders, child life specialists, and nursing teams to identify gaps in care delivery and develop strategies that enhance safety, patient experience, and clinical outcomes.
• Help guide practice and education within a highly specialized pediatric environment where nurses develop expertise across multiple procedural and therapeutic care settings.

Pay range is based on a full‑time (100%) position. Salary is prorated based on FTE.

• RN‑Nurse Specialist: $90,552 – $135,784
• Clinical Nurse Specialist: $97,764 – $146,646

RN‑Nurse Specialist

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Must obtain a Master’s degree in Nursing or a doctoral degree (DNP) in a relevant specialty within five (5) years of the start date
• 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience required
• Preferred: previous experience as a nurse specialist and/or expanded role, experience in an academic medical center

Clinical Nurse Specialist

• Master’s Degree or doctoral degree in Nursing required
• Preferred:
  Master’s Degree or doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) with CNS role focus
• 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience required
• Preferred: 3 years of relevant clinical nursing experience, previous experience as a clinical nurse specialist, experience in an academic medical center

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Wisconsin or a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact – required upon hire
• Basic Life Support CPR/BLS certification – required upon hire
• Preferred: CNS certification and certification in a specialty area of practice
