UW Health is seeking a Physician Assistant Cardiology for a position in Madison, Wisconsin.
Job DetailsDuration:
Ongoing; 40 hours per week;
Shift: 8 hours days, nights;
Employment type:
Staff. Full‑time position with day and night rotation and variable schedule; daytime shifts 10–12 hours, weekend, overnight, and holiday shifts 10–12 hours. Future service model includes rotating overnight coverage (Monday–Sunday) and holidays.
Location:
University Hospital, 600 Highland Avenue, Madison, WI.
- Work in a team‑based model with residents, cardiology fellows, and attending physicians to care for a wide variety of cardiology patients.
- Perform daily medical management for cardiology patients requiring general or ICU levels of care.
- Manage acute cardiac conditions and acute/chronic non‑cardiac problems such as kidney disease, anemia, electrolyte disturbances, sepsis, pneumonia, diabetes, etc.
- Participate in daily team rounds to adjust plans of care, including lab and radiology interpretation, hemodynamic and telemetry monitoring, medication management, communication with patients and families, multi‑disciplinary rounds, consultation of other services, and engagement in teaching rounds.
- Perform admissions, transfers, discharges, and provide holistic care coordination for cardiology patients on the service.
- Education:
If Nurse Practitioner – Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from an accredited Nursing Program;
If Physician Assistant – Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited PA Program. - Licenses and Certifications (Minimum):
State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure. - Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses with prescriptive authority (for NP) and active board certification in area of clinical practice (Adult, Adult/Gerontology Acute Care, Adult/Gerontology Primary Care).
- Active PA license with prescriptive authority and active PA board certification (for PA).
- All applicants must have an Active DEA license or ability to apply prior to or upon hire.
