Nurse Practitioner - Emergency Medicine

UW Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner - Emergency Medicine for a role in Madison, Wisconsin.

Work Schedule:

80-100% FTE, nine‑hour shifts. Hours vary to provide coverage and meet department needs, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and call.

• Evaluate, examine, diagnose, and treat patients of varying acuities in collaboration with onsite physicians.
• Order and interpret laboratory studies and imaging.
• Order and prescribe appropriate medications for emergency patients.
• Perform routine procedures such as suturing, arthrocentesis, joint reduction, incision and drainage of abscesses.
• Potential to learn advanced procedures, including endotracheal intubation and central line placement.

Education.

• If Nurse Practitioner:
  Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from an accredited Nursing Program.
• If Physician Assistant:
  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited PA Program.

Licenses and Certifications.

• Minimum – State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure.
• For Nurse Practitioner:
  Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice; active board certification as NP in an area of clinical practice (e.g., Emergency, Family).
• For Physician Assistant:
  Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, and active board certification.
• All applicants must have an active DEA license or the ability to apply prior to or upon hire.
