Position: Nurse Practitioner - Family Practice - $116K-162K per year

Job Overview

UW Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner – Family Practice for a position in Madison, Wisconsin.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced inpatient care for cardiothoracic transplant patients, including pre‑operative and post‑operative orders for heart and lung transplant patients.
  • Participate in Heart Failure/Shock team protocols and support surgical elements of the lung and heart transplant programs.
  • Support ECMO specialists, VAD specialists; participate in daily rounding, multidisciplinary rounds, and billing review.
  • Manage advanced therapies such as Impella, ECMO, and LVAD; perform complex wound management, chest tube and pacing wire placement, sternal closure monitoring, and bedside procedures.
  • Work at an ECMO Center of Excellence and Level 1 Trauma Center.
  • Provide outpatient care, including patient work‑up, pre‑operative evaluation, transplant candidacy assessment, participation in transplant selection conferences, and coordination from inpatient to outpatient transplant clinic.
Education and Licensure
  • For a Nurse Practitioner:
    Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • For a Physician Assistant:
    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited PA program.
  • Minimum licenses and certifications
    • Active RN and APRN certifications, including prescriptive authority in state(s) of practice; active board certification as NP in clinical practice area.
    • Active PA license with prescriptive authority in state(s) of practice; active PA board certification (if applicable).
    • All applicants must hold an active DEA license or be able to obtain one prior to or upon hire.
