Job DescriptionBe part of something remarkable. As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our inpatient care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients.
Responsibilities- Provide advanced inpatient care for cardiothoracic transplant patients
- Preop orders and postoperative for heart and lung transplant patients
- Participation in Heart Failure/Shock team protocols
- Support surgical elements of the lung and heart transplant programs (which work closely with the Advanced Pulmonary/ECMO program, Heart Failure/MCS programs)
- Support ECMO specialists, VAD specialists
- Participation in daily rounding, multidisciplinary rounds, review for appropriate billing
- Clinical Management of Advanced Therapies—Impella, ECMO, LVAD
- Complex wound management, chest tubes, pacing wires, sternal closure monitoring, participation in bedside procedures
- Work at an ECMO Center of Excellence and Level 1 Trauma Center
- Outpatient participation for patient work-up and continuity of care
- Preoperative evaluation for heart and lung transplant patients including VAD and transplant candidacy
- Participate in transplant selection conference
- Coordinate care from inpatient to outpatient transplant clinic
Minimum –
If Nurse Practitioner: Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program.
If Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program.
Licenses and CertificationsMinimum – State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure
For Nurse Practitioner:
- Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
- Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice. These may include Adult Gerontology Acute Care.
For Physician Assistant:
- Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
- Active PA board certification
All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have:
Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire.
Active license or eligibility to obtain active licensure in state of practice. This may include licensing in Wisconsin and other state(s) of practice.
