Job Summary

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Schedule & Call Expectations

Part‑time 0.6

FTE day shift. (Full‑time is an option if preferred). Regular day shift from 6:30a.m. to 5p.m., with varying start times and possibly varying shift lengths of 8hours or 10hours. Will be included in a second call rotation over the weekend for approximately 12weeks.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Implements and monitors patient care plans.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well‑coordinated patient care.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Applies the evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring that care is delivered based on patient’s age‑specific needs and clinical needs as described in the department’s Scope of Service.
  • Demonstrates professional nursing standards as defined in the professional practice model.
  • Uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to evolving health and nursing needs.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or an education equivalency for licensing.

Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for near and far distances, and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25–50lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.
Professional Licensure & Certifications

Required licenses and certifications vary by location:

  • Illinois – Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLSHCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
  • Missouri – Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLSHCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration or RN issued by Compact State.
  • Oklahoma – Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLSHCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State or RN – Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN).
  • Wisconsin – Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLSHCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State or RN – Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
