RN-Cardiac Cath Lab​/EP Lab Prep and Recovery

80% FTE, day/evening shift. Operational hours of the Prep/Recovery Cath Lab/EP Lab are 5:30am to 7:00pm. On‑call responsibilities may be required for some weekends and/or holidays with a 60‑minute response time. Hours may vary depending on department need. You will work onsite at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized pre‑ and post‑procedure care for adult patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, structural heart, and interventional nephrology procedures in UW Health’s nationally recognized Heart & Vascular program.

• Provide specialized pre‑ and post‑procedure care for adult patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, structural heart, and interventional nephrology procedures.
• Care for a diverse patient population in a 12‑bed prep/recovery unit, utilizing strong intermediate care (IMC) assessment skills while preparing patients for procedures, recovering post‑procedure patients, and caring for select higher‑acuity patients, including STEMI and TAVR patients requiring extended recovery.
• Collaborate with an expert multidisciplinary team including interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, anesthesiologists, cardiovascular technologists, and Cath Lab nurses to deliver safe, efficient, patient‑ and family‑centered care.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
• 6 months of relevant clinical nursing experience (Required)
• Specific to EP Lab – Previous moderate sedation experience (Required)
• Additional years of relevant clinical nursing experience (Preferred)
• Prior involvement in clinical procedures in area of specialty, including successful work or involvement in other hospital‑wide project work (Preferred)
• Experience in an academic medical setting (Preferred)
• Specific to Gastro/Endo & Generations – Previous moderate sedation experience (Preferred)
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state(s) where patients are receiving care or may work as eligible per state licensing regulations (Upon Hire Required)
• Basic Life Support/CPR (Upon Hire Required)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months (Required)
• Certification in area of specialty (Preferred)
