American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Outpatient Clinic Hematology Oncology position requiring 2 years of chemotherapy/infusion experience and an active ONS/ONCC certification.
Details- Work in an outpatient clinic setting within a hematology oncology department
- Provide chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration, PIV placement, port access, IV hydration, blood product administration, and injections
- Day/evening shifts scheduled between 7:00am and 6:00pm, Monday through Friday
- Shift options include 5x8-hour shifts (7:00am-3:30pm) or 4x10-hour shifts (7:00am-5:30pm)
- Floating required as needed
- Uses Epic charting system
- Active RN license (WI or Compact) currently in hand
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy certification required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in oncology/chemotherapy within the last 3 years required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, and central line care
- Experience administering chemotherapy via continuous infusion, IV push, and oral routes
- Experience recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, and sepsis
- Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to start, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and an 80% or higher overall score
- APHON, CPHON, CPON, and OCN certifications preferred
- Deliver comprehensive chemotherapy and biotherapy care including cytotoxic therapy, immunotherapy, and management of related side effects
- Provide patient and family education and support, including symptom management for issues such as nausea, neuropathy, and altered mental status
- Coordinate care and apply neutropenic precautions and appropriate PPE/isolation protocols
- Care for patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, among others
- Work at a Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates will not be accepted
