The Clinic Director provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for all medical services and clinical operations of First Care Clinic, a program of Care Net Pregnancy Center of Dane County. Under the guidance of the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer, the Clinic Director ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, compassionate healthcare services that align with the organization’s mission, values, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
The Clinic Director is responsible for the planning, implementation, supervision, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical services, including nursing care, ultrasound services, STI testing and treatment, infection prevention, quality improvement, and staff development. This position oversees clinical personnel, manages clinic operations, and collaborates with physicians, healthcare professionals, patient advocates, and community partners to ensure patients receive exceptional medical, emotional, and psychosocial support.
The Clinic Director serves as a clinical leader, resource, and mentor while promoting a culture of excellence, safety, accountability, and Christ-centered care.
The Clinic Director must sign and agree with our Statement of Faith, Mission, and Vision, and Statement of Principles.
Responsibilities
A. Clinical Leadership and Administration
- Implements and upholds Care Net’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, policies, procedures, and organizational values.
- Oversees the daily operations of the medical clinic and mobile clinic services.
- Maintains compliance with all applicable accreditation, regulatory, and licensing standards, including AAAHC, OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, and state requirements.
- Develops, reviews, updates, and implements medical policies, procedures, standing orders, infection control protocols, exposure control plans, and quality assurance measures.
- Implements organizational goals and strategic initiatives established by the Board of Directors and executive leadership.
- Manages the credentialing and recredentialing process for physicians, nurse practitioners, and other licensed healthcare providers.
- Maintains personnel records and documentation required for accreditation and regulatory compliance.
- Prepares reports, attestations, applications, renewals, and surveys required by accrediting and regulatory agencies.
- Maintains the clinic’s CLIA waiver and oversees laboratory compliance and quality assurance activities.
- Oversees communication and reporting with regulatory and clinical partners, including Center of Disease Detection, Local and state health departments, WEDSS, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
- Oversees maintenance, calibration, quality assurance, and repair of ultrasound and medical equipment.
- Develops and manages the annual clinic budget.
- Prepares program reports and clinic outcome reports as requested.
- Oversees purchasing, inventory management, vendor relationships, and service contracts for clinical supplies and equipment.
- Coordinates staffing schedules to ensure adequate clinical coverage.
B. Clinical Operations and Medical Services
- Provides leadership and oversight for all medical services to ensure adherence to best practices and standards of care.
- Protects and promotes the integrity of the FOCUS process and oversees its consistent implementation by medical staff.
- Oversees the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, including user access, documentation standards, templates, and workflow improvements.
- Ensures timely physician review and signature of medical charts as required.
- Utilizes clinic data and quality metrics to improve patient outcomes and operational effectiveness.
- Serves as a clinical resource for staff, volunteers, patient advocates, and healthcare providers.
- Evaluates and recommends improvements to clinical workflows, patient experience, and service delivery.
C. Direct Patient Care
- Provides direct nursing care consistent with professional nursing standards and physician standing orders.
- Obtains patient health histories, assesses patient needs, and develops appropriate care plans.
