Evening/Night shifts available, with 8 to 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Monday through Friday shifts will be required, including every other weekend and some holidays. General pediatric medical and surgical care includes management of GI issues, general surgery, trauma, rehabilitation, bronchiolitis, eating disorders, psychiatric diagnoses, orthopedic and cardiac conditions. Administration of blood and blood products, anti-seizure medications, and asthma management are required.
Candidates should have experience in managing BiPAP/CPAP, brain injuries, and cystic fibrosis care. Responsibilities also include management of ports, central lines, infections, and TPN/lipids. Pediatric dosage calculations and providing care for various conditions including fractures and hydrocephalus are essential. Telemetry experience is important; staff will monitor telemetry on the unit. Interdisciplinary support is available from various teams, including physical therapy and social services.
The unit primarily cares for adolescents, infants, and pediatric patients with an average daily census of 22. Candidates may be required to float as needed within the facility. A physician's order and policies must be followed regarding infection prevention and isolation precautions. A demonstration of strong pediatric nursing skills is critical for success in this role. The assignment will involve managing complex cases and providing compassionate care to a diverse population of children.
