Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular registered nurse (RN) position available in a high-acuity cardiac and thoracic surgical unit. The role involves providing specialized care for adult and geriatric patients with complex cardiac conditions, including post-surgical and transplant cases, in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The RN will deliver advanced cardiovascular care utilizing a range of technology and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet patient needs.
Job Details- Schedule:
Night shifts, 12 hours each shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. - Required Qualifications:
Valid RN license (WI or compact), ACLS certification, BLS certification, and at least 2 years of recent acute care experience in a cardiovascular intensive care setting. Experience with CVVH (continuous veno-venous hemofiltration) and knowledge of Next Stage CVVH machine required. - Certifications:
ACLS, BLS. - Skills:
Managing arterial lines, chest tube insertion/removal, ventilator management, CVVH, IABP, Impella, LVAD, ECMO, Telemetry interpretation, and cardiac rhythm analysis. Additional expertise in managing complex cardiac devices and procedures is preferred. - Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of recent inpatient RN experience in acute cardiovascular care. - Additional Information:
The unit cares for patients with diagnoses such as CABG, valve repair/replacement, aneurysms, LVAD, heart and lung transplants, STEMI, NSTEMI, and cardiogenic shock. Responsibilities include supporting emergent and planned procedures, managing high-tech equipment, and providing comprehensive bedside care within a multidisciplinary team that includes care team leaders, rapid response nurses, and nursing assistants. Travelers should be prepared to pass a telemetry interpretation exam with strict scoring criteria prior to start.
The assignment includes floating responsibilities as needed, with the local rule requiring candidates to be within 50 miles of the facility.
