Encompass Community Supports, formerly known as Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services (RRCS) is hiring a Substance Use Disorder Nurse – LPN
. At Encompass Community Supports, our full-time employees work 37.5 hours weekly.

The SUD Nurse – LPN provides care, counseling, education and consultation to clients;
Work is performed under regular supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician.

• Evaluates pre-screenings, conducts intake assessments including CIWA/COWS to determine appropriateness for admission.
• Consults with referral sources about medication and health treatment plan/order medications; keeps stock medications; assesses clients for special diets; performs AIMS; gives injections; assists clients with obtaining medications.
• Orders prescribed and over the counter medications; maintain medication stock; performs medication counts each shift; maintains STAT box; disposes of unused/expired medications.
• Develops, shares, researches, and provides client education about medications, STD/HIV/other illness and about addiction and withdrawal.
• Provides HIV/other diseases as well as substance abuse counseling.
• Provides crisis intervention and medical services for residential clients when needed.
• Documents in clients records on a daily basis; completes treatment plan; complies with agency and regulatory requirements.
• Works with other tech as a team to provide case coordination with clients and community resources to assure continuity of care; performs environmental management assisted by tech.
• Participate in clinical staffing, shift report, and other meetings.

• Administers TB test/screening to clients and staff.
• Be available for calls after hours and be able to fill in for other staff if needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Thorough knowledge of the principles, standards, practices and techniques of professional nursing; thorough knowledge of the dangers inherent in and the precautions to be taken in the use of narcotics and other medications; thorough knowledge of evidenced based treatment, diagnostic, immunization and related medical services for clients; thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures and policies pertaining to nursing services of the agency;

ability to accurately maintain patient medical records and prepare reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, physicians and associates; knowledge of MS Office, to include Word and Excel.
