Job SummaryThe Eagle Heights Community Gardens are looking for two Community Garden Workers to join our team! We are recognized as one of the oldest and largest organic community gardens in the U.S. and are focused on growing food organically, building soil patiently, and creating a community of gardeners from around the world.
From mowing, managing large and small projects, and overseeing groups of garden volunteers - we're looking for Community Garden Workers who are committed to making the gardens a positive experience for gardeners and visitors alike.

Work ScheduleThis position will work primarily during the garden season (March to November), with occasional opportunities for hours available during the off-garden season.
Community Garden Workers typically work 10-20 hours per week with flexibility, depending on the season and weather, demands of the position, and the availability of the gardeners. Must be available to work most weekends throughout the garden season. The position is approved to work up to 20 hours/week during the garden season.
Key Job Responsibilities- Installs, propagates, and maintains the health of new and existing plants and landscape using a variety of vehicles and equipment
- Maintains clean and clear lawns, walkways, roadways, and parking lots to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
- Constructs lawn and landscaping projects including soil grading, seeding, and sodding
- Identifies and acts to remedy plant diseases and insect damage
- Oversees garden work days and manages volunteers
- Maintains records of community garden
Division of University Housing, University Apartments
University Apartments is a department within the Division of University Housing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a student service organization, University Apartments provides on-campus housing, programs, and services for our residents.
The team at University Apartments actively support the mission of the University while also meeting the needs of students, families, and guests by fostering the development of a residential community. The University Apartments staff provides these services to a community of approximately 2,500 residents in 1,240 apartments on 83 acres. Residents are primarily graduate students, post‑docs, faculty, staff, and their families;
many of whom are international. University Apartments also includes Eagle's Wing Childcare and Education Programs, a licensed and nationally accredited early education program located in the University Apartments Community Center. The majority of families who use the center are residents of University Apartments. All programs and services sponsored by University Apartments are funded through rent or user fees.
The starting hourly wage is $17.00 per hour
