Performs a variety of scientific analyses to evaluate the quality of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods, ensuring compliance with established standards. This role involves conducting and validating biological and chemical quality control (QC) assays, interpreting and documenting statistical data, and identifying deviations from quality standards. The position also includes establishing assay specifications and developing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
** Key Accountabilities
*** Select and test a defined percentage of products in accordance with established quality standards.
* Conduct inspections throughout all stages of production, including raw materials, in-process materials, and final products.
* Provide training for novice quality control staff and manage their progress.
* Track, develop, and update QC and other Laboratory Services protocols.
* Develop, optimize, and implement new processes and assays to support quality control and laboratory operations.
* Monitor and support interdepartmental operations to ensure efficient and compliant workflows.
* Troubleshoot production issues and assist in resolution through consultation, analysis, and collaboration with Quality Assurance (QA) and Operations.
* Identify, document, and report errors, defects, or inconsistencies to the supervisor.
* Maintain open and collaborative communication with team members.
* Support other Laboratory Services functions as trained and qualified.
* Maintain data integrity and audit readiness through proper documentation practices.
* Perform additional duties as assigned.
** Minimum
** Requirements
* **** A Bachelor of Science and 2-3 years of relevant experience is required.
* Ability to work effectively as part of the Lab Service’s team, including communicating results and supporting troubleshooting efforts.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize laboratory workload.
* Proficiency in software applications such as Smartsheet, Lab Note, spreadsheets, relational databases, and data visualization tools.
* Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to cell culture and quality control testing.
* Availability to work weekends and overtime as required.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
** Preferences
* ** Experience using sterile technique or experience in a microbiology and/or tissue culture laboratory preferred.
* Experience with antibody characterization is preferred.
* Experience with small repairs on assigned laboratory instruments and testing equipment helpful.
** Working Conditions &
Physical Requirements
*** Must be able to lift to 25# on a regular basis and up to 50# of an occasional basis.
* Extended computer and display screen equipment usage.
* Stand / walk for extended period of time.
* Fine manipulation includes handle touch objects or tools and ability to handle controls to perform work.
* Ability to read and interpret materials, verbally communicate, and hear required.
