Overview
The Center for Dairy Research (CDR) is seeking a Scientist and short course lecturer to advance the research and education missions of the Center. Housed in a new, state-of-the-art facility in Babcock Hall, CDR is the largest dairy foods research program in the US. The Center has over 60 full-time staff, supports graduate and undergraduate research, and provides technical and training support services to hundreds of dairy producers and processers around the globe.
We offer over 40 different types of training programs per year.
This role will help carry out short term (0.5-3 year) research projects funded by the Dairy Management Inc., the Dairy Business Innovation Alliance Program, and other CDR partners. The position will help mentor graduate students through their research projects. The position will lecture in our short course program for industry on sessions related to cheese and food science. The position will also assist with industry funded projects and interact/collaborate with analytical staff and other researchers.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in food science or a related field, experience with cheese and dairy product research and excellent presentation and teaching skills.

* Work will be performed onsite at the UW-Madison campus
- Develops content and delivers lectures/labs at CDR short courses related to areas of expertise
- Assists with the identification of research problems and the development of research methodologies and procedures
- Attends and assists with the facilitation of scholarly events and presentations in support of continued professional development and the dissemination of research information
- Collects and analyzes research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures under general supervision and limited responsibility
- Writes or assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding
- Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities
- Serves as a main point of contact and liaison with internal and external stakeholders providing information and representing the interests of a specialized research area

CompensationThe minimum salary for this position is $70,000. However, actual salary will depend on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications* Research experience related to dairy foods or cheese
* Publication record specific to research work in dairy foods or cheese, with first author contributions
* Experience presenting or training; such as guest lectures, workshops, short course instruction, or conference presentations
EducationPh.D. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related field required
