Program Overview

The University of Wisconsin Hematology Research Training Program T32 is recruiting three postdoctoral trainees with start dates of July 1, 2026 (one July 7). It emphasizes pre‑ and post‑doctoral training in vascular biology and hematopoietic stem cells, including their roles in inflammation, hemostasis, thrombosis, metastasis, and cancer. The program offers multidisciplinary training for translational research and formal training for clinical investigators. Clinical trainees may use the NIH‑funded UW Institute for Clinical & Translational Research, which provides didactic training in biostatistics, epidemiology, clinical trial design, scientific and grant writing.

Responsibilities and Requirements

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and possess an MD, PhD, MD‑PhD or equivalent degree with a commitment to two years of training. All trainees will participate in didactic hematology training, maintain an individual development plan required by NIH and UW‑Madison, complete responsible conduct of research training, and undergo interim evaluation every six months by the steering committee.

Trainees will incur a payback obligation to the NIH during the initial 12 months of support, fulfilled in the second year of training. The post‑doctoral appointment lasts two years, contingent on progress and participation in training grant activities.
