Job SummaryThe Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Researcher I to work in the Division of Genetics and Metabolism. This position supports translational biomedical research focused on rare genetic disorders using mouse models and human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)–derived neuronal systems in the laboratory of Dr. Bryn Webb. The researcher will perform and manage wet‑bench experimental studies, including characterization of genetically engineered mouse models, stem cell culture and neuronal differentiation, molecular and cellular assays, and data generation to support externally funded research projects.
The work will focus on disease modeling in inherited mitochondrial disorders and a genetically defined ataxia syndrome. This role is essential to advancing mechanistic studies of human disease, supporting grant deliverables, and maintaining safe and compliant laboratory operations within a physician‑scientist–led research program.
This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.

- Assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding
- Collects and analyzes basic research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures
- Assists with the development of research methodologies and procedures
- Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities and assists with publications

- The starting salary for the position is $50,000 annually; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

- Hands‑on experience with either mouse models or stem cell–based experimental systems.
- Demonstrated experience with mammalian cell culture techniques.
- Experience performing standard molecular biology and biochemical techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and Western blotting.
