Job Description
The Technical Leader I is responsible for executing advanced analytical testing and providing technical leadership for routine and non‑routine laboratory activities. This role ensures data quality and regulatory compliance, supports method validation activities, and contributes to the overall technical direction of the laboratory. The position also serves as a mentor to laboratory staff, supporting skill development and fostering a strong team environment.
Analytical & Technical Execution
- Perform, review, and interpret analytical testing in compliance with SOPs, client needs, and regulatory guidelines.
- Support development, optimization, and validation of analytical methods for various compounds and matrices.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of laboratory work, including records, reports, and data packages.
- Troubleshoot methods, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Technical Leadership & Oversight
- Provide technical direction for routine assays, validation activities, and study work.
- Act as a data approver and ensure all reported results meet quality and compliance standards.
- Monitor assay performance and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality data.
- Lead and support investigations, including Out of Specification (OOS) results and deviations.
- Maintain and update methods, SOPs, and quality assurance documentation.
Project & Client Support
- Collaborate with internal teams and client services to define project requirements and timelines.
- Provide technical input during project planning, client discussions, and site visits.
- Prepare and review technical reports and communicate results effectively.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and throughput.
- Participate in equipment qualification, new technology implementation, and method enhancements.
- Serve as a mentor and technical resource for laboratory staff, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.
- Support onboarding and development of junior scientists and technicians.
- Promote a collaborative team environment and encourage knowledge sharing.
- Assist in evaluating team performance and identifying development opportunities.
This position is on Monday‑Friday, 9:00 AM through 5:30 PM, with some overtime and weekend work as required for business needs.
QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability required.
- B.S. in chemistry, food science or equivalent degree and 3+ years related progressive experience
- Ability to Learn new tasks
- Ability to think critically and solve problems quickly and efficiently
- Skilled in performing analytical method troubleshooting and method development
- Skilled in chromatographic data interpretation
- Demonstrated ability for logical thinking, vision, and creativity necessary to function effectively with little structure or supervision
