Job Summary:

The Baby's First Years (BFY) study is a first-of-its-kind randomized controlled trial focused on understanding the causal impact of providing an unconditional cash transfer to low-income mothers during their children's early years. Now entering its eighth year, the BFY team seeks a research analyst to join our interdisciplinary team. Research analysts will use a variety of advanced statistical methods common in the social sciences to analyze study data, including longitudinal survey data, administrative data, and direct child assessment data.

This position will take the lead on conducting analyses based on team needs and requests as well as managing documentation for the study public data release, publications, and presentations.

In addition to being an integral part of the BFY study, the research analyst will join the team at the Institute for Research on Poverty (IRP). IRP currently serves as the sole federally funded research center on poverty and economic mobility, dedicated to producing and disseminating rigorous evidence to inform policy.

The work schedule is partially remote with the expectation to work in office 2 days per week.

The initial term of this appointment is 2 years and has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.

Job Responsibilities:

* Serves as an initial point of contact for individuals and groups providing basic information about result analysis and methodologies, answers questions as needed

* Maintains organization of research records and responds to data requests and inquiries

* Prepares reports and manuscripts and assists with the development and presentation of materials through various communication platforms

* Analyzes data and summarizes research results for a defined research area or study by utilizing established processes

Compensation:

The expected salary range for this position is $55,000 up to $70,000 for highly experienced candidates. Actual pay within this range will depend on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

* Experience cleaning and merging quantitative datasets for research purposes, including survey and administrative data

* Experience using a variety of advanced social science statistical methods to analyze data

* Proficiency using statistical software to manipulate and analyze data using advanced statistical research methods

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Ability to convey complex quantitative statistical information to a variety of audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

* Knowledge of fields of public policy, poverty, and/or child development

* Some familiarity with Linux systems for handling files

* Experience creating data visualizations for presentation

* Proficiency in using STATA software to analyze data

Education:

Bachelor's degree, required

Preference in social science, public/population health, data science/analytics, or related field.

Master's Degree, preferred

Preference in social science, public/population health, data science/analytics, or related field.
