Job Summary:This position is part of the team that oversees some of our most popular venues in the Memorial Union:
Lakefront Lounge, Daily Scoop, Strada, and the summer terrace BBQ stand. Job duties include: overseeing quality food preparation and presentation, customer service; guiding and directing staff, training and supervision of student staff.
As the social heart of UW–Madison, the Wisconsin Union provides events, facilities, and activities for students, staff, faculty, thousands of Union members, and campus visitors. It also offers hands‑on leadership opportunities for hundreds of UW–Madison students.
Physical Demands:Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds occasionally needed;
Ability to work outside in inclement weather needed.
Location:
This position is scheduled to work a combination of days, nights and weekends, with 2 days off in a row. Operational and work schedules will be closely aligned with the services and customer needs of our units. As a result, work schedules will be adjusted during specific times of the year to meet demand.
KeyJob Responsibilities:
- Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
- Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
- Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
- Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities
- Develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations

Compensation:The expected starting salary is $22.50/hour. This position is also eligible for weekend and night differential pay.

Required Qualifications:- Previous restaurant experience
- Previous restaurant experience in supervisory or lead role
- Serv Safe Certificate required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Alcohol Server License required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
