We serve both B2C and B2B customers such as non profits, retailers, and Universities through our store and office locations across the United States. Additionally we help brands and licensors sell online both through company branded and marketplace websites.

UGP is seeking a dynamic Sales Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Availability outside regular business hours may be required, ensuring excellent customer support and the ability to close deals promptly.

The Sales Manager will be a member of the Sales team, working alongside other Sales Managers, and reporting to the Regional Sales Manager.

This position is classified as in person, reporting to the Regional Manager and working out of our retail location in Madison, WI.

This position is classified as a fixed work schedule, with responsibility for coordinating with direct manager and/or team members in handling relevant urgent action items as they arise, even during non-work hours.

Reporting directly to this position are store and sales associates, and team(s), along with the functions deemed relevant to the associated processes.

Possible future path for career advancement:
Regional Sales Manager;
National Sales Manager.

Specific responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Promote UGPs core values; show up, work hard, be respectful and honest, strive for excellence, do what you say and promote DEI
  • Responsible for converting quotes to lead to sales. Marketing’s role is to drive quotes, Sales managers' role is to interact with quotes and convert to orders.
  • Communicate sales, store and personnel information to your regional manager in a timely manner
  • Adhere to the Digital Code of Conduct
  • Provide feedback in a constructive manner to affect change / be a part of the change
  • Participate in weekly 1-on-1 meetings with the Regional Sales Manager and weekly L10 with the RSM and other sales managers in your group
  • Assist in coverage when other UGP team members are unavailable (email/phone coverage; travel to another UGP location if needed)
  • Take care of your customers and ensure the best experience and outcome possible
  • Engage with and participate in your local community; attend events such as Downtown Association meetings, networking groups, chamber of commerce meetings
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email or in person to determine needs; focus on what the customer prefers/needs
  • Relay ideas for sales and marketing tools to the Regional Sales Manager
  • Work with the National Sales Manager and Head of Marketing to engage with customers and drive sales at events and local opportunities
Location
  • Open/close the store per the opening and closing checklists and store hours
  • Deposit money to the bank for both custom and retail per procedures
  • Interview, hire, train, direct and evaluate Store Associates
  • Keep storefront clean, organized and welcoming; ensure products are easy to find and clearly marked
  • Keep the store open for scheduled hours and special events
  • Schedule SA store hours and handle call offs/no-shows/shift changes
  • Coordinate retail displays to optimize retail sales
  • Supervisory tasks including time card approvals, annual reviews, disciplinary actions, and time-off requests
  • Manage/store operations during major retail event days (e.g., home football weekends, graduations, large events)
