Job Summary
The Bailey Lab is looking for a research specialist to work on novel mechanisms of viral persistence. This will involve learning techniques in virology and immunology. Competitive applicants will have a track record of working with rodent models. This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location. Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be given first consideration:
Rodent handling/bleeding.
School of Medicine and Public Health/Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, Bailey Lab.
Key Job Responsibilities- Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area.
- Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders.
- Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials.
- Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s).
- Collects data and monitors test results.
- Performs literature reviews and writes reports.
- Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences.
- Must be comfortable handling live rodents and performing experimental procedures on rodents.
- Must have steady hands.
- Must be organized and detail oriented.
- Must be open minded to learning new skills.
- Previous rodent handling experience.
- Prior laboratory experience.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred; focus in biomedical fields preferred.
CompensationThe starting salary for the position is $44,543 annually; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
