Sample Preparation Technician
As a Sample Preparation Technician, you will play a vital role in preparing and processing incoming samples for microbiological testing, ensuring accuracy in labeling, tracking, and handling in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). Your efforts will support the laboratory workflow, maintaining a smooth and efficient testing schedule.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and process incoming samples for microbiological testing.
- Ensure samples are accurately labeled, tracked, and handled according to SOPs.
- Support laboratory workflow to keep testing on schedule.
- Calibrate scales and other equipment as needed.
- Perform environmental sponge swabbing.
- Stock laboratory and sample preparation room supplies.
- Complete routine plate count activities.
- Turn on and monitor water baths.
- Perform routine daily lab aid tasks.
- Retain samples by placing them in designated refrigeration or storage areas.
- Complete end-of-day sample count and productivity metrics.
- Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and common lab areas.
- Prepare sterile media and supplies for testing.
- Assist with special projects and laboratory initiatives during slower periods.
- Support continuous improvement efforts within the laboratory.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or Associate's degree in the sciences.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in routine or repetitive work, such as warehouse or assembly work.
- Strong references verifying attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Work Environment
The role operates within a lab setting focused on dietary microbiology and probiotics testing. The work environment is fast-paced and can be viewed as production work due to the requirement to meet client time frames.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
