Job Description & How to Apply Below

tar Protection & Patrol is seeking dependable, professional, and highly flexible individuals to join our Madison-area team as
Flex Security Officers
.

This is not a traditional security position where you report to the same location and work the same shift every week. Flex Officers are specially trained across
multiple Star Protection & Patrol client sites throughout the Madison area
and are utilized wherever operational coverage is needed.

Flex Officers are an important part of our operation. They help cover employee vacations, scheduled time off, open shifts, call-offs, staffing transitions, and other coverage needs while helping the company reduce excessive overtime and maintain consistent service for our clients.

Because Flex Officers must maintain a higher level of availability, learn multiple client sites, understand different post orders, and be prepared to work different shifts and assignments,
this position receives a higher rate of pay than many of our standard fixed-site Security Officer positions.

Schedule & Availability Requirements

Applicants for the Flex Officer position
must have genuine schedule flexibility
.

Flex Officers must be able and willing to work:

  • 1st Shift
  • 2nd Shift
  • 3rd Shift
  • Weekdays
  • Weekends
  • Holidays when scheduled
  • Different client locations throughout the Madison area

This position is specifically designed for individuals who can adapt to changing operational needs. Your schedule, shift, and assigned location may vary from week to week depending on client coverage requirements.

While scheduling needs will vary, Star Protection & Patrol will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of assignments whenever possible.

Multi-Site Training

Flex Officers will receive training at
multiple client locations
throughout the Madison area.

Each client site may have different:

  • Post orders
  • Patrol requirements
  • Access-control procedures
  • Reporting requirements
  • Emergency procedures
  • Client expectations
  • Checkpoints and patrol routes
  • Equipment
  • Site-specific policies and responsibilities

Flex Officers are expected to retain this information and be capable of independently reporting to an assigned location and performing the duties of that post after completing the required training.

Why Flex Officers Receive Premium Pay

The Flex Officer position carries additional responsibility compared with a traditional fixed-site assignment.

We recognize that asking an employee to maintain broader availability, learn multiple locations, work across all three shifts, and step into different assignments requires additional commitment.

That flexibility has value, and we believe it should be compensated accordingly.

Our Flex Officers serve as a critical staffing resource by allowing Star Protection & Patrol to:

  • Provide coverage while employees are on vacation or approved leave.
  • Fill temporarily vacant shifts.
  • Cover scheduled absences.
  • Respond to changing client staffing requirements.
  • Maintain reliable client coverage.
  • Reduce mandatory overtime for other officers.
  • Reduce employee burnout caused by excessive overtime.
  • Maintain a trained pool of officers who can immediately step into multiple assignments.

The premium rate associated with this position is provided because of these increased expectations.

Essential Duties

Depending on the assigned client location, responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting foot and/or vehicle patrols.
  • Monitoring client property and facilities.
  • Performing access control.
  • Monitoring entrances and exits.
  • Conducting employee, visitor, or contractor check-ins.
  • Responding to disturbances and security-related incidents.
  • Identifying and reporting suspicious activity.
  • Enforcing client rules and property policies.
  • Completing electronic shift activity reports.
  • Completing incident reports when required.
  • Conducting building and property checks.
  • Monitoring cameras or security systems where assigned.
  • Responding appropriately to emergencies.
  • Contacting supervisors, dispatch, law enforcement, fire, or EMS when appropriate.
