Job Description
Job Title: Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter/Inspector
Location: Madison, WI, Monroe, WI
Salary: Union scale

Job Summary:
The Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter/Inspector is responsible for the installation, inspection, servicing, and repair of fire sprinkler systems, including wet-pipe, dry-pipe, and pre-action systems. This role ensures compliance with national and local fire codes and standards while maintaining strong customer relationships through accurate documentation and communication.

Responsibilities:
  • Install, inspect, service, and repair wet-pipe, dry-pipe, and pre-action fire sprinkler systems.
  • Conduct periodic inspections per NFPA 25 standards, including internal piping inspections, obstruction investigations, flow tests, and hydro tests.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, & 25 and other applicable fire codes and standards.
  • Accurately document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations using required state/local documentation.
  • Maintain a professional and positive relationship with customers, addressing any questions, concerns, or service needs.
  • Participate in an on-call schedule (once every six weeks) to respond to emergency service requests.
  • Adhere to safety standards and policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements

Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter.
  • Must possess a Wisconsin Fitter Card.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong working knowledge of fire sprinkler system codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, & 25.
  • Must be a Local 669 union member.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage time and workload.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality work.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of toolboxes, tools, equipment, parts, cabling, and wiring.
  • Frequent ladder climbing, often while carrying up to 50 pounds.
Other Requirements:
  • Availability to work on-call shifts every six weeks.
  • Ability to work in various conditions, including heights and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work 7:00 a.m.

    - 4:00 p.m. with flexibility to meet customer scheduling requirements.
  • Must maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  • Must keep equipment, tools, and vehicle in clean working order.
