Job Title:
Heavy Equipment Operator
Join an excavating company as a Heavy Equipment Operator where you will operate large machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, and loaders. You will work on construction sites handling tasks like excavating for basements, foundations, and new site development. You must be able to read blueprints, understand elevations, grade work, survey, and perform final excavation while installing water and sewer lines.
Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, and loaders.
- Read and interpret blueprints and elevations.
- Perform grading work, surveying, and final excavation.
- Install water and sewer lines.
- Lead and manage a crew of 2+ people.
- Independently run projects from start to finish.
- Communicate with clients as needed.
- 3–5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment such as large excavators and bulldozers.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to dig basements/foundations independently.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly.
- Experience in civil construction and utility construction.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and GPS operation.
You will work on commercial job sites in various weather conditions. The company has a small team of 12–14 employees, with crews consisting of 2–4 members depending on the project. The dress code requires steel-toe boots; PPE is provided. Work hours are from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, starting at the shop before heading to the job site. Employees must have their own personal hand tools.

This is a Permanent position based out of Madison, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 ‑ $40.00/hr.
