Heavy Equipment Technician – Madison, WI

We are a long‑established, family‑owned construction equipment organization in Wisconsin seeking a shop‑based Heavy Equipment Technician. The role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction equipment in a safe, organized shop environment. Candidates must own professional‑grade tools and possess strong mechanical aptitude.

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment in a shop setting.
• Perform mechanical, hydraulic, diesel engine, and electrical repairs.
• Complete preventive maintenance and scheduled service inspections.
• Use diagnostic software, service manuals, and schematics to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Accurately document work performed, parts used, and labor hours.
• Work closely with service leadership and parts teams to complete repairs efficiently.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Participate in training to stay current with equipment technology.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and diagnostic ability.
• Experience working with diesel‑powered equipment, hydraulics, or industrial machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
• Comfort using computers and diagnostic tools.
• Ownership of professional‑grade tools and toolbox.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet physical job requirements.
• Heavy construction equipment experience is a plus but not required for a mechanically strong candidate.
