The HVAC Start Up Technician is responsible for diagnosing, starting up, and testing HVAC equipment on projects (split systems, mini‑splits, package systems, and rooftop units on Commercial Construction projects).
Position Description- Diagnose, start up, and test HVAC equipment on commercial construction projects.
- Perform service repairs, register installations, and provide white‑glove service in finished and occupied units/homes.
- Troubleshoot refrigerant systems and maintain code‑compliant HVAC systems.
- Install ductwork, gas piping, condensate piping, and venting; read blueprints and layouts from pre‑designed or custom plans.
- Plan materials and communicate needs to ensure on‑time delivery and availability.
- Train field crews in both structural and technical aspects of the industry.
- Coordinate HVAC system installation with other trades.
- Enforce DJI safety culture by maintaining safe jobsite conditions and holding crew accountable to safety policies.
- Communicate outstanding start ups and report status to supervisors.
- Accurately document start ups and fill out required forms.
This role requires commuting to both Milwaukee and Madison based jobs; you must be comfortable driving anywhere.
Requirements- Valid driver's license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 6+ years of HVAC construction experience, or completion of an HVAC apprenticeship.
- EPA certification.
- Vehicle + Fuel Card.
