Position Summary

The Field Service Technician will support our fuel cell products currently installed in electric lift trucks, including performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. This person will be responsible for the installation and servicing of fuel cells at a specific location and for reporting breakdown events, ordering parts, and maintaining fuel cells. The role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication, interpersonal and motivational abilities, and will involve frequent interactions with customer personnel and electric lift truck operators.

Core

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites.
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet at a specific location.
  • Execute specialized service procedures, including field retrofits, software, and hardware upgrades to existing fuel cells.
  • Provide on‑call and emergency support service to customers as required.
  • Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for customer service and support as required.
  • Maintain high‑pressure hydrogen storage, 480

    VAC, flammability, cryogenic liquid, high‑pressure gas, and fueling systems.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support of fuel cells.
  • Deliver regular feedback to regional service representatives regarding fuel cell performance and field maintenance issues.
  • Complete administrative duties and documentation, including incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and site and system documentation.
  • Exhibit and enforce safety procedures in the field or customer sites.
  • Travel as required for business needs; drive safely and adhere to all traffic laws.
  • Represent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
  • Three (3) or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Formal training and education may also be considered in lieu of direct experience.
  • Valid driver license, clean driving record, and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis unassisted.
  • Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred.
  • General mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Computer and software skills, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creativity in solving technical problems.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Uncompromising dedication to quality.
  • Exceptional time management skills with ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Punctual and reliable.
Pay Rate

Hourly rate: $24.50 – $28.50.
