Commercial Installation Expediter
The primary function of the Commercial Installation Expediter is to manage commercial flooring projects from bid acceptance through installation completion to deliver projects on or ahead of schedule and on or under budget.
Job Conditions
- Hours of work:
Minimum of 40 hours per week;
Days and times are flexible. Required to be available when installers are working on their assigned projects. - Field position - 90% time in field/10% office.
- Position reports to Commercial Installation Manager.
Duties
- Responsible for supervision of overall installation project, staff installers, risk management and quality control on assigned projects.
- Comprehension of OSHA Health and Safety Standards. Monitor and ensure that staff installers are complying with standards and working in a safe manner.
- Member of Sergenian's Safety Committee. Attend monthly safety meetings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, take-offs and specifications.
- Conduct scope reviews with Salespeople to review project information and requirements.
- Inspect jobsite to confirm conditions (cleanliness, substrate, temperature, lighting, moisture) are within manufacturers requirements prior to installation start. Communicate with jobsite supervisor/contact about corrections that are needed.
- Develop and coordinate installation plan with jobsite supervisor/contact (access, jobsite rules, delivery, schedule).
- Complete and document moisture testing prior to installing moisture sensitive products.
- Attend job meetings as required by the project or customer.
- Determine break out for material, tools, and installation materials needed for each phase or scope of work on assigned projects.
- Coordinate picking tickets, deliveries and job pickups with Scheduler, Delivery Manager.
- Maintain customer relations by being available, responding quickly, and providing excellent customer service on assigned projects.
- Understand the labor budget on assigned projects. Monitor job progress and profitability daily; responsible for profit and loss.
- Coordinate with the sales team regarding timely project information and problem resolution. Communicate installation needs and potential change orders to sales.
- Supervise commercial staff installers and coordinate with subcontract installers on assigned projects. Ensure job site requirements are followed, materials are installed according to manufacturer guidelines, and work quality meets industry standards.
- Review subcontractor installation progress and sign off/approve weekly Subcontractor invoices to ensure accuracy of progress vs billing.
- Ensure that all job required paperwork (background checks, badging, certified payroll, daily reports, etc) from installers are completed and submitted on time.
- Ensure all punch list are completed by deadlines. Follow up with installers and customers until verification that project is 100% complete.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required, 4 year Degree preferred
4-6 years of commercial flooring or commercial construction experience
Supervision and/or management experience
Required Knowledge and/or Skills
OSHA Heath and Safety knowledge, OSHA 30 certification preferred
Excellent communication skills (i.e. verbal, written, listening)
Time management and organizational skills
Ability to handle negative situations professionally
Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook Ability to anticipate, solve, and prevent problems.
Ability to push, pull, lift and carry materials weighing up to 70 lbs. frequently
Ability to retain bending and/or squatting position consistently (40% of the time)
Ability to retain position on hands and knees (50% of the time
