Overview
Field Service Technician (Open) – Madison, WI
Responsibilities- Install and care for on-site nitrogen generation plants and bulk medical or industrial gas systems in a safe and operationally effective manner, aligned with all codes and Airgas policies.
- Collaborate on the installation and care of nitrogen on-site generation equipment.
- Support cryogenic bulk installations at Airgas facilities and customer sites.
- Restore and optimize pressure reduction equipment for bulk delivery systems.
- Evaluate and improve electrical systems related to N2 generation and cryogenic installations (motor controls, relays, low/high pressure, liquid level alarms).
- Place decals and warning signs to identify hazards and emergency contacts.
- Install piping systems per company SOPs.
- Conduct site surveys to ensure compliance with codes.
- Maintain security of fencing to protect installations from tampering or unauthorized entry.
- Perform periodic preventative maintenance on N2 generation equipment per PM schedule.
- Conduct annual evaluations of bulk installation sites for condition and operation.
- Champion safety policies to ensure safe operations.
- Maintain an appropriate stock of parts to support typical installations within the customer base.
- Support the team in other areas as needed.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a Certified Brazing Certificate within 30 days of employment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- HVAC or refrigeration certification or American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Medical Gas Credentials are a plus.
- Minimum of two (2) years of industrial field service experience, preferably in gas generation systems; prior electrical experience is a plus.
- Understanding of NFPA 99 and NFPA 55 requirements.
- Knowledge of cryogenic and high-pressure gases and related products, containers, and piping systems.
- Hands-on experience with cryogenic equipment, pressure piping, and compressors; proven troubleshooting ability.
- Welding and brazing knowledge (silver brazing preferred).
- Ability to perform regulator repairs and repair piping/liquid leaks (a plus).
- Ability to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day (arrangements for coverage as needed).
- Ability to read blueprints and design specifications and related documents.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
