Field Service Mechatronic – Sheetfed Apprentice

Location:

Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

We are now hiring a Mechanical/Electrical apprentice for the Milwaukee area. This role requires extensive travel, flexibility, a 3‑year commitment, and a hunger for learning how to work on and fix industrial printing machines.

We have a unique opportunity for an Electrical/Mechanical Controls apprentice motivated to grow with the Heidelberg team. The apprenticeship program offers training with a starting base salary of $44,200, paid travel expenses, a $45 per diem, and full employee benefits during the first year (with growth in income after successful completion of qualifications). By working on Heidelberg machines, you secure a global presence with a unique skillset.

What

you will do
  • Grasp concepts and theories related to mechanical & electrical processes taught in an operational environment.
  • Work with and assist Field Service Personnel during installation and maintenance of Heidelberg equipment, both in the field and in Heidelberg facilities.
  • Provide exemplary customer service: understand the customer’s needs to keep their equipment productive and explain what will be required to restore their equipment to operation.
  • Perform most service work at the customer’s site so regular attendance and timeliness is expected.
  • Sometimes overtime or weekend work may be a critical function for success.
  • Work as an Electrical/Mechanical apprentice specializing on Printing Press equipment.
Requirements
  • Ability to travel about 80–100% of the time during the apprenticeship program.
  • Commit to a 3‑year program.
  • Mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, robotics, etc. aptitude.
  • Enjoy working with hands and possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Electrical knowledge.
  • Basic mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills. (Mechanical/electrical knowledge does not need to be limited to printing equipment.)
  • Basic computer skills are important. The program lasts 3 years with potential to advance or graduate sooner.
  • Must be 21+ years old due to travel and car policy.
Skills
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and arrive at sound conclusions.
Qualifications
  • High School or Equivalent (Required).
  • Hand Tools: 1 Year (Required).
  • Electrical: 1 Year (Preferred).
