Airport Maintenance Mechanic
Dane County Regional Airport has a full-time (1.0 FTE) vacancy for an Airport Maintenance Mechanic position.
This is a second shift position. Normal work schedule: 1:30 pm to 12:00 am, rotating, including weekends and holidays.
Undesirable Hours Premium Pay:
Employees assigned to this classification at the Airport also receive undesirable hours pay of $3.00 for any time worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., and for any time on Saturday and/or Sunday.
The eligible list created from this posting may be used for future Airport Maintenance Mechanic vacancies for the next six (6) months.

Definition:
Under general direction, performs skilled maintenance and repair work on airport building, facilities, mechanical utilities and equipment. Performs related work as required.
Examples of duties:
Performs skilled work in the maintenance or repair of airport terminal HVAC and mechanical systems, plumbing, buildings and electrical installations, including gas, diesel and electric motors, heat exchangers, variable air volume (VAV) systems, gas forced air furnaces and equipment, circulating pumps, boiler alarm systems, electrical systems, variable frequency drives, emergency generators and generator electrical panels, plumbing systems, compressors, welding equipment, refrigeration and cooling systems, water softening equipment, automated revenue control and parking lot ticket dispensers and gate units, building automation and computerized HVAC systems, automatic door operators and locks, baggage conveyor systems, passenger boarding bridges, flight information display systems, and other mechanical equipment and structures.
Operates light and heavy motorized equipment as necessary. May act as a crew leader for a small group of temporarily assigned helpers.
Education, Training and
Experience:
Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to high school diploma and five (5) years of experience in the construction or maintenance of large commercial HVAC and mechanical systems and building automation systems.
Licenses/Certificates:
Must have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class "A" with "N" endorsement required within six (6) months of the appointment.

Special Requirements:
Must have a valid driver's license and access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent. Must be available nights, holidays and weekends, and during snow and other emergencies. Random drug and alcohol testing required. Applicants must pass drug/alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment has been made. Candidates who reach the final selection stage will be subject to an FBI criminal history records check, TSA security assessment, employment history verification, and a driving record check.
