The Position

Under the direction of the Foreman, the Pipe Excavator Operator is responsible for operating several types of power construction equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • A Class A CDL desired but not necessary prior to hire.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • 3+ years experience on pipe crew.
  • Experienced in proper sloping and trenching techniques involved in installing sanitary sewer, water main and storm sewers of varying depths and soil types.
  • Ability to dig inside and pull trench boxes and plates.
  • Follow all safety and OSHA requirements.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
  • Able to work varied hours including nights, early mornings, weekends, as needed.
  • Be able to tolerate and work in variable weather conditions, and work in dirty and dusty environments.
  • Member of a Local Operators Union, or willingness to become a union member required. Union membership may not be required prior to employment;
    Human Resources Department is available to assist in that process if needed.
  • Successfully pass or has passed the Operators Union aptitude test when required.
  • Ability to clean, maintain, and assist in repairing equipment.
