Role Description The AV Service Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Madison and Milwaukee Areas. This role is responsible for performing service, maintenance, and repair on commercial audio visual systems, including diagnosing issues, replacing components, and ensuring optimal system performance. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting system failures on-site, conducting field service visits, documenting service activities, and coordinating with clients, programmers, and manufacturers to resolve technical problems.
The AV Service Technician will interact directly with clients, explain system issues and resolutions in clear terms, and provide training or guidance on proper system usage. This role also involves maintaining systems and equipment, following safety and quality standards, and supporting continuous improvement of service processes.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Maintenance & Repair of audio visual systems and related equipment.
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Experience in Field Service, including on-site visits, system inspections, and service reporting.
- Demonstrated Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- General Maintenance capabilities, including routine checks, preventive care, and system optimization.
- Basic knowledge of AV signal flow, networking fundamentals, and control systems is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
- Comfort working at client sites, sometimes on ladders or in ceiling spaces, and lifting AV equipment as needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for field service work in the Greater Madison Area.
- Relevant technical certification or vocational training in electronics, AV technology, or a related field is a plus. (CTS, Crestron, Biamp, Q-Sys, Dante, etc.)
- Previous experience in audio visual, low-voltage, or IT-related service roles is preferred.
