Location: Madison, WI Position Type: Full-time, long-term, on-site Union Status: Union or union-eligible
We're seeking a Fire Protection Technician to support comprehensive fire protection services in commercial and industrial facilities throughout Wisconsin. The Fire Protection Technician will work on a variety of life safety systems, with a strong emphasis on fire sprinkler systems and exposure to special hazard suppression systems in more complex environments.
The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on fieldwork, understands the importance of compliance and reliability, and takes pride in maintaining systems that protect people, property, and operations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform inspection, testing, maintenance, and service on fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems
- Troubleshoot system deficiencies and complete necessary repairs or modifications
- Support service and maintenance of special hazard fire suppression systems such as clean agent or foam-based systems
- Execute work in accordance with applicable fire codes, standards, and safety requirements
- Complete inspection reports, service documentation, and deficiency notices accurately and on time
- Coordinate with internal service teams and communicate clearly with customers on system status and findings
- Maintain a strong safety mindset while working in active, occupied, or mission-critical facilities
- Previous experience in fire protection, fire sprinkler, or life safety systems within commercial or industrial settings
- Working knowledge of fire protection codes and inspection standards
- Experience with or interest in special hazard systems strongly preferred
- Relevant certifications (NICET, state licensing, or similar) preferred but not required if experience is strong
- Union member or open to joining a union-covered role
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally
