Position: Human Services Supervisor - Childrens Long Term Support

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the HS Adult Protective Services Social Worker (APSSW) assesses, authorizes, and/or performs social and protective case management activities related to frail, disabled, abused, and/or homeless adults.

Salary

HS APSSW I - $19.83 - $26.44 per hour

HS APSSW II - $21.47 - $28.62 per hour

HS APSSW III - $22.99 - $30.65 per hour

Incentives

Educational Incentive: Possible educational incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on completion of an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree.

Bilingual Incentive: Possible bilingual incentive depending on applicable MOA and departmental needs.

Responsibilities HS Adult Protective Services Social Worker I
  • Investigate and evaluate cases of abused and/or neglected elder and dependent adults, including cases of self‑neglect.
  • Assess social, physical, and mental functioning and needs of clients through interviews, home visits, record reviews, or consultation with appropriate agencies and individuals.
  • Refer, authorize, and/or coordinate services as necessary to complete individual service plans.
  • Follow through with case management services and oversight to assure that services are provided in a timely and complete manner.
  • Interpret departmental policies, rules, and regulations for applicants, agencies, and the public.
  • Prepare and maintain case reports, records, and computerized information.
  • Collaborate with caregivers, physicians, nursing services, mental health providers, police, fire departments, and representatives of other service agencies to develop service plans, evaluate, and monitor cases.
  • Make presentations to the public on related adult social services, legal mandates, and referral community services.
HS Adult Protective Services Social Worker II

HS Adult Protective Services Social Worker III
  • In addition to the duties listed above, the HS Adult Protective Services Social Worker III may:
  • Mentor new workers, provide consultation to less experienced workers, and serve as a resource person for co‑workers.
  • Assist in conducting regular case reviews to assure compliance with regulations and procedures.

Supplemental Information:
Duties require driving a vehicle to make home visits to clients' residences that may be unsanitary or unsafe. May be exposed to sick, disabled, hostile, uncooperative, or mentally unstable clients or relatives. May be required to perform after‑hours standby and/or call back as needed.

Qualifications

Level I:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Social Work (BSW) or Human Services (BHS).
  • OR a Bachelor's Degree in a field related to human services AND twelve (12) months’ experience providing case management services in a non‑profit or public agency.

Level II:

  • A Master’s Degree from an accredited university in Social Work (MSW), Marriage, Family Therapy (MFT), Gerontology (MSG), or another closely related advanced degree.
  • OR a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (BSW) or Human Services (BHS) AND at least twelve (12) months’ experience providing adult case management services in a non‑profit or public agency.
