Position Overview

MMSD is seeking a highly motivated and energetic school social worker to serve as a core member of the school’s integrated pupil services team. The role involves collaborating with teachers, administrators, families, and community organizations to design and deliver a comprehensive, coordinated system of student support.

Key Elements of Integrated Student Services
  • Data-based decision making for planning, delivery, and evaluation of programs and services
  • Communication, consultation, and collaboration with students, families, staff, and community partners
  • Advocacy and leadership to enable each student to be a healthy and successful learner
  • Adhering to professional standards that are respectful, confidential, individualized, developmentally appropriate, and culturally competent
  • Staying current with professional learning to maintain and develop competency reflecting evidence‑based best practice
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as a resource for social emotional learning
  • Foster ongoing positive collaborative relationships with students, families, and the community to meet student needs and maximize school success
  • Serve students suspected of and identified with disabilities through appropriate referral, evaluation, programming, and placement within the IEP process
  • Act as the Point of Contact for Homelessness
  • Facilitate effective transition practices and procedures for students and promote a positive and welcoming school environment
  • Coordinate and provide support for child abuse prevention and suspected child abuse and neglect reporting
  • Assess, implement, progress monitor, and evaluate evidence‑based interventions throughout a multi‑tiered system of support (MTSS)
  • Contribute to screening and assessment of student behaviors to develop safety plans
  • Provide support for crisis prevention and response efforts at the school level
  • Ensure informed practice through an understanding of policies and laws related to children/families and education
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in social work. Official transcripts are required for formal employment.
  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction school social worker license (7050).
  • Licensed candidates considered first. Unlicensed candidates may be considered if hired by a school district to apply for a One‑Year License with Stipulations with DPI.
  • Applicants must obtain and maintain the Wisconsin teaching license within 30 days of starting employment (if required).
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Hmong is preferred for bilingual positions. Language proficiency assessments may be required.
Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements

Work may require travel to different locations within the district and to off‑site meetings. The position may require working evenings, nights, and some weekends. Certain positions may allow hybrid work flexibility. School‑based positions are required to be in‑person unless otherwise directed.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work under generally safe conditions, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, and perform tasks such as walking, sitting, stooping, reaching, and being stationary for extended periods. Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor environments throughout the year, including inclement weather and temperatures that fluctuate.
