Playstation is looking for a Software Engineer to build our next-generation technologies and applications in the growing Madison, WI campus. We apply modern web technologies and methodologies to build an outstanding commerce platform and a customer experience filled with delight. The ideal candidate will come from an object-oriented development background, and be passionate about front end web technologies. Yes! There is a Sony Playstation office in Madison, WI! We are located in the heart of downtown right near the Capitol Square with an outstanding view of the east side and many great restaurants and social opportunities right outside the door.
This is a hybrid role. We offer a flexible work-from-home policy. In-person meetings may sometimes be required. Otherwise, you can work in the office as much or as little as you prefer. We also host many social and team bonding events in our Madison campus.
The teamThis team focuses on building client application experiences for Play Station consoles, websites, mobile applications and beyond. These features serve millions of users around the world. Responsibilities:- Develop, test and document business critical features and applications
- Work with Product Owners and Product Managers to understand feature requirements, capture technical requirements and craft solutions for components and applications for the Play Station ecosystem
- Passionate about quality and strives to improve processes, proposes standard methodologies and drives their usage within the teams
- Developing JavaScript-based applications for Play Station gaming consoles, web, mobile and future flagship Sony devices and services
- Building digital commerce solutions for Play Station games, media content, subscription services and more
- Write robust unit and component tests to ensure reliability and prevent regressions.
- Work quickly and optimally in a fast-paced ever-evolving environment
- Work independently and collaborate with internal and external engineers
- Work with other team members by reviewing and giving feedback on pull requests and design plans
- Define and refine technical approaches that support performance, accessibility, and scalability.
- Exercise your feature building capabilities and collaborate within your team to optimize existing solutions as well
- Deploying platform experiences through CI/CD pipelines
- Monitoring software releases, analyze telemetry, and adapt to production data
- Continuously learn, experiment, and bring forward innovative ideas — participate in Hackathons and Café Days to help shape the future of Play Station experiences.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 3+ years of relevant work experience instead of a degree
- 2-3 years of building product experiences with proficiencies in UI technologies
- A passion for robust sustainable and high-quality code
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
