Position: Agile Collaboration Coach (Part-Time)

Agile Collaboration Coach (Part-Time) - REMOTE

We're looking for an Agile Collaboration Coach with an unwavering passion for helping teams work better together. Most of the work we do is on large-scale, enterprise-wide systems (both commercial and government)—this engagement in particular will help our teams strengthen how they collaborate, pair, and ensemble as they deliver, including exploring how these practices evolve in an AI-assisted development environment.

At Flexion (an agile software company that's been delivering excellence for over 25 years), our company culture is built on autonomy, trust, and transparency. We empower teams to remain self-sufficient and self-directed by hiring people who can solve complex problems through collaboration—this means lending a hand and flexing your multi-skilled muscles as needed. Every member of a cross-functional team is a leader who takes responsibility for the entire team's success, mirroring the company's overall low-bureaucracy structure.

We believe that growth comes from working together—and that includes supporting each other through thoughtful, constructive feedback. Flexion team members are expected to help each other grow, challenge ideas respectfully, and integrate feedback as a normal part of the workday.

What The Job Looks Like:
  • This is a part-time, embedded coaching role, approximately 10 hours per week to start. Rather than a fixed scope, you and the team will identify together where your coaching and support are most valuable—whether that's pairing, ensembling/mob programming, retrospective facilitation, or something else that emerges once you're working alongside them. The work is fully remote.
  • Embed with the a Flexion team to observe how they currently collaborate and identify where coaching would have the most impact
  • Facilitate and coach ensembling/mob programming sessions, pairing, and other collaborative practices tailored to the team's real needs
  • Help the team explore how collaborative practices like ensembling apply in an AI-assisted development context
  • Coach individuals and the team through specific collaboration challenges, experiments, or questions as they arise
  • Share observations, feedback, and recommendations with the team and Flexion leadership on where continued investment would be most valuable
  • As capacity and interest allow, contribute to broader initiatives such as onboarding workshops, company-wide talks, or recurring office hours
Why We Want To Hire You:

You can deliver in small pieces as you go, while still thinking about how they fit into the whole. You welcome change as a positive (instead of viewing it as "rework") and never consider anything you deliver "final." Although you understand that what you deliver may not be complete, you never knowingly deliver something that is wrong or of poor quality.

You actively contribute to a learning team culture, offering and receiving feedback with curiosity and respect.

You have:

  • A bachelor's degree or commensurate experience
  • Extensive, hands-on experience coaching agile teams, with deep expertise in ensembling/mob programming and collaborative software development practices
  • A track record of helping teams build stronger collaboration habits without imposing a one-size-fits-all process
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, both in small team settings and in front of larger audiences
  • Comfort working in a self-directed, autonomy-driven environment where the scope of engagement is discovered collaboratively rather than defined upfront
  • Curiosity about how collaborative practices like ensembling are evolving alongside AI-assisted development
  • A "can do" attitude devoid of ego
At Flexion, We Live By These Principles:
  • Speak openly and honestly with your colleagues and clients about problems and proposed solutions
  • Welcome and handle changing requirements and priorities with little or no warning
  • Collaborate online in small groups about 50% of the time
  • Encourage simple and minimal solutions that keep options open
  • Expect and vocally advocate for quality first
  • Offer and welcome constructive feedback as a tool for continuous team and individual growth
  • Learn new practices and techniques as the situation…
